Borrowing
books
When you wish to check out books, please
present your ID card or library card at the Main counter.

Books can be borrowed for longer periods during vacations.
Details are posted on the bulletin board and the library homepage.
Students writing graduation theses or doctorfs theses may borrow
more books for longer periods. Please apply at the main counter.
Non-circulation Materials
Reference books and rare books
Newspapers, Magazines, Audio-visual materials Microforms, CD-ROM
etc..
Returning books
Please return books
at the main counter by the due date.
(When closed, a
book-drop at the entrance is available.)
Before you leave, return any materials you have been using while
at the library to the return truck on each floor.
Renewal
Books may be renewed
once for a further period.
You must bring your ID card or library card, together with the books
for renewal to the main counter.
The following books
cannot be renewed :
Books that have
already been renewed once.
Books that are overdue.
Books that have been reserved by someone else.
Books on long|term loan during holidays.
In addition, books cannot be renewed during examination periods.
Reservation
If you want a book which is already out on loan, you can apply
for the reservation at the main counter. When the book becomes available, a
notice will be posted on the 1st Floor bulletin board.
Books remain reserved for one week after the posting of the
notice.
You can make the
reservation yourself using one of the OPAC terminals.
Lost books
If you lose a book you
are required to replace it or pay compensation.
Penalty for Overdue Books
If you fail to return any books by the end of the loan period,
youfll be penalized by temporarily losing your library borrowing rights.
Request for the Purchase of a Book@
You can make a request for the purchase of a book not held by
our library.
We will purchase a book according to the library collection policy.
OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue)
You can search for materials
by title, author or key-word, using OPAC.
For guidance click kEnglish Versionl and then kHelpl.
When you find the
material you are looking for, the bibliography will be displayed on the screen.
Then please carefully look at thekHoldingslwhich will displays the details about where it is stacked .
Go to the shelf indicated by thekCall No.l. Books are arranged
by the NDC (
Reference Service
* We can help you in using OPAC and locating materials, or
finding what you need.
The reference counter is open during the

On-Line Database Services
There are many
databases such as NACSIS-Web cat, MAGAZINEPLUS, ASAHI DNA, Lexis.com, etc. on
our library homepage. Ask for searches at the reference counter.
*Inter Library
Loan (photocopy, loan)
If you need materials not held by our
library, ask for them through the Inter library loan service. Request forms are available at the reference counter.
A charge will be payable when you receive the material.
Books obtained through Inter library loan service can not be taken
out of the library.
*Issue of Letter of Introduction to
Other Libraries
If you need to visit another university library
or a special library, you may need a letter of introduction. Please apply to
the reference counter.
Self-Service Copy
Copy machines for
copy card use only are located on each floor. You can purchase copy cards at
Co-op store. When you make photocopies, copyright law has to be observed.
Notice!!
There is no smoking in the library, and no food or drink is
allowed.
PHS and cell phones should be switched off before entering the library.
Belongings and valuables are brought into the library on your
own responsibility.
