Exchange Students
Momoyama Gakuin University accepts recommended students from its affiliated overseas institutions as exchange students for terms of either six months (one semester) or one year (two semesters), beginning at the end of March (the spring semester) or in mid-September (the autumn semester).
Courses Offered in English
Most of the courses taught in English at Momoyama are open to exchange students. These include classes on Japanese economics and business as well as on culture, history, and society. In addition, English-language introductory courses on Japanese culture are available.

Japanese Language Courses for Exchange Students
Japanese Language Courses are provided for exchange students, ranging from beginners who have not studied Japanese before, to advanced learners. In addition, we offer a full range of elective courses that will be of interest to exchange students, including preparation for JLPT N1 and N2, Business Japanese, and classes on Japanese life and culture.
Compulsory courses
Japanese language classes in the first semester are compulsory for exchange students.

Students can choose classes that they are interested in and learn Japanese language and Japan-related contents.

Regular Courses Taught in Japanese
Exchange students with adequate skill in Japanese can enroll for any regular course regardless of which faculty/department they are enrolled in.
Internship Program for Exchange Students
Applicants may participate in the Global Internship program free of charge. *Selection is required. For those who complete the program, the program will be listed on the grade report and one credit will be awarded.
Purpose and Contents of Global Internship (Kyoto)
- Four-day experiential training during summer or spring break
- Accommodation and work experience at a guesthouse/hotel in Kyoto
- Planning of inbound promotion plans to promote Japanese culture and regional characteristics and attractions
What you will learn through experience
- To experience Japanese culture with strong local roots, reaffirm its characteristics and diversity, and communicate it widely both domestically and internationally.
- Acquire the ability to identify issues related to inbound tourism and its relationship with the local community and derive solutions.
- Through discussion and cooperative work, acquire the independence, cooperativeness, and communication skills necessary for cross-cultural understanding and multicultural conviviality.

Tuition Fees
Exchange students recommended by one of our affiliated overseas institutions are exempt from payment of tuition fees. Expenses other than tuition (including round-trip travel costs and living expenses) must be borne by the students themselves.

Medical-care insurance
Exchange students are required to join the Japanese National Health Insurance after arriving in Japan.
The National Health Insurance covers 70% of medical expenses.
At the same time, Momoyama Gakuin University requires all exchange students to enroll in the "Momoyama Inbound Insurance" (see below), which covers 100% of medical expenses in combination with the National Health Insurance.

note that if you do not have this additional insurance (Momoyama Inbound Insurance), you will not be able to register for courses at Momoyama.

Momoyama Gakuin University Scholarships / Private Scholarships
Momoyama Gakuin University internal scholarships or some private scholarships are available for exchange students from universities that have scholarship agreements with Momoyama Gakuin University.

Japan Student Services Organization Scholarship (JASSO) Scholarship
The candidate and the candidate's institution will be notified directly according to the scholarship application quota.
Scholarships by private organizations, etc.
Your institution will be notified only if there are scholarships available for which you are eligible to apply.

- You must pay the ENTIRE AMOUNT of rent for a semester (JPY240,000) at beginning of each semester. Payment is only acceptable in CASH.
- Utilities (Gas, Electricity, and Water) are NOT included in the rent, and tenants must pay the bills on their own.
- Internet fee is included in your semester fees.
- If you arrive in designed days (late September or mid-March), a resident assistant can pick you up at Kansai International Airport and you can move into your flat on the first day.

Supports for International Students

Resident Assistant
Residence assistant (RA) is full-time Momoyama student who assist the international exchange students living away from their hometown to lead safe and pleasant dormitory lives. RA will be glad to give you advice about living in Japan.

Buddy
The International Centre will select a buddy for you. (Only for those who applied for the buddy program) She or he is a full-time Japanese student and will support the daily life of international exchange students who have just come to Japan.

International Center
The office of International Center is located on the street level of St. John Building. The International Center provides information and support for all international students. St. John Hall is a community center for faculty and staff members and students and it is a great place to study. St. John Hall is used by many Japanese students and it is also a good place to make Japanese friends.
